Medical Center to Host Senior Summit to Showcase Senior Care Services to Community
On Thursday March 14, St. Joseph Medical Center, along with nine other South Kansas City businesses, were awarded a Community IMPACT award by the South Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. The businesses were nominated and selected by the community. St. Joseph Medical Center was awarded due to their efforts in addressing acute senior behavioral health needs.
Patients 65 years and older have unique medical needs and St. Joseph Medical Center (SJMC) in south Kansas City has been proactive in taking steps to make their lives easier. “The services our Senior Behavioral Health Center offers are in high demand. This new unit is in response to an important community need,” said Jodi Fincher, Chief Executive Officer of St. Joseph Medical Center. “We are looking ahead, and as the baby boomer generation ages, the need for this service will grow. This unit will also complement our Senior Care Services program that includes geriatric accredited emergency department, a comprehensive senior inpatient program and Sister Margaret’s Senior Clinic.”

St. Joseph Medical Center will be hosting a Senior Care Summit to showcase the resources they have available to seniors. The Expo will include free blood pressure screenings, free peripheral artery disease screenings and will feature information about a variety of opportunities available to seniors through several organizations throughout South Kansas City.
