The Breast Center at St. Joseph Medical Center has been designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). This prestigious designation means the Breast Center at St. Joseph has earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy and breast ultrasound (including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy).
“We are honored to be recognized by the ACR as a leader in breast imaging,” said Mike Dorsey, CEO. “Our team is committed to not just meeting, but exceeding national standards, and this accreditation is a reflection of that.”
The Center of Excellence designation was awarded after St. Joseph undertook an extensive evaluation process, which included a thorough peer-review by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. The evaluation determined that St. Joseph has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.
“When patients see this gold seal of accreditation, they can have peace of mind knowing they are receiving care from experts in the field,” said Colleen Johnson, Regional Director of the Breast Center.
“The Breast Center at St. Joseph has always been known for providing the highest quality, compassionate care,” said Richard Kuckelman, MD, Medical Director in the Breast Center at St. Joseph. “This new accreditation recognizes that our Breast Center is also among the best in the nation in terms of providing the safest imaging and interventional procedures available.”
