These prom-goers don’t have curfews: residents from area assisted living communities will don their finest and come together for a senior prom at 3 p.m., May 31 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Community Center for Health and Education, Building D, 1000 Carondelet Dr., Kansas City. Several youth volunteers are expected to take part in the event, which has been spearheaded by Overland Park memory care community Morningside Place. It includes live music, dinner and plenty of dancing. It will also feature the traditional naming of the prom king and queen.

“Encouraging friendships and social connection is an important focus within senior living communities,” said Chasity Robinson Mwangi, community relations director for Morningside Place and an organizer of the occasion. “Our prom furthers this goal by bringing residents from a number of communities together so they can get to know each other, develop new bonds and of course have lots of fun.”

On-site media contacts during the event are Chasity Robinson Mwangi with Morningside Place, 913-485-2337 and Ericka Beeler, St. Joseph Medical Center, 913-221-1329. Morningside Place is operated by Anthem Memory Care.
