St. Joseph Medical Center has added a new psychiatry practice to its campus and expanded the services of one of its psychiatrists to better meet the mental health needs of the area. St. Joseph Psychiatry Associates, located on the campus of St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri, will include the services of psychiatrist Dr. Janet M. Dunn. Dr. Dunn currently sees patients at St. Joseph Medical Center and will continue her inpatient work along with establishing this new outpatient practice.
Dr. Dunn received her combined six-year degree in 2001 from the University of Missouri—Kansas City with a Bachelor of Arts in liberal arts and Doctor of medicine. She was chief resident in psychiatry at the Rush University Medical Center in Chicago and opened her own private practice before advancing to medical director of ReDiscover, a community mental health organization in Lee’s Summit, MO, where she provided care in Adult Clinic, Substance Abuse Program, and Partial Hospital.
In 2010, Dr. Dunn joined Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, MO where she served as a staff psychiatrist for five years. For the past five years, she has provided psychiatric physician care with the Midwest Psychiatric Consultants where she treats anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, and other conditions including diagnosis, evaluation and therapeutic procedures. A member of the American Psychiatric Association, Dr. Dunn is licensed in both Kansas and Missouri. She has contributed to several publications, providing reviews for psychiatric textbooks and online services.
