Kansas City, Mo.— St. Joseph Medical Center welcomes Deb Ohnoutka, BSN, MHA, as its Chief Nursing Officer overseeing nursing initiatives, cultivating a safe environment for patients and associates, and developing a team of inspired, motivated and engaged staff.

“Having been a bedside nurse for many years, I understand that it is very hard work,” says Ohnoutka, “but I believe it is still both an honor and a privilege to be a nurse.”

Ohnoutka spent one year as Chief Nursing Officer at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs before joining St. Joseph.

Ohnoutka began her medical career in Council Bluffs, Ia., working in several hospitals and holding positions such as Maternal/Child Director, Charge Nurse in OB/GYN and as a LDRP Staff Nurse.

Since moving to Kansas City, Ohnoutka has worked at several area hospitals. She has worked in hospital administration and held positions such as Administrative Director of Women’s and Children’s Services and Director of Maternity Services.

Ohnoutka received a master’s degree in health care administration from Central Michigan State University, a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Midland Lutheran College and a registered nurse diploma from the Jennie Edmunson School of Nursing in Council Bluffs, Ia.
