Kansas City, Mo.— Lillibridge and Affiliates will begin construction on a 22,000-square-foot
expansion in late September that will double the size of the Carondelet
Heart Institute at St. Joseph Medical Center..
“We have experienced tremendous growth over the past 18 months,”
says David Ireland, CEO, Carondelet Heart Institute. “Since January
of last year, we’ve grown from seven to 20 cardiologists serving
the Heart Institute and we’re setting records in the number of procedures
we’re doing. The expansion will allow us to operate more efficiently
and to continue to provide the highest level of care to our patients.”
In addition to the growth in medical staff and procedures, new technologies
contribute to the need for expansion. Earlier this year, the Carondelet
Heart Institute became one of only two in the area using cardiacspecific
PET imaging.
The new building will be an expansion to the existing St. Joseph Medical
Building and in addition to the longterm lease agreement with CHI, it
will provide office space for primary care physicians and other specialists
on the third floor. A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Friday,
September 30. It’s expected the construction will take 18 months
to complete.
